It all started...
Calvin James and Bad Influence's Doni Larson formed their first band, The Stompin' Underbeats, in 1962. Back then we all knew Calvin as Jim Johnson. Enjoy some memories from their scrapbook.

Johnson returned from active duty and rejoined his original band. With a move to Los Angeles and adapting to the musical direction of the times, the band transformed to Gypsy. They recorded four albums and toured nationally until their break-up in 1975.
Calvin 1982
This photo appeared on the back cover of The Steamers Album, recorded in New York in 1982. The Steamers music was a mix of blues and southern style rock. Universal Studios took notice and used most of the songs for film and television soundtracks.
